The primary difference between them is that engraving is a physical process, and etching is a chemical process. An engraver uses sharp tools to cut lines directly into a surface, while an etcher burns lines into a surface with acid.

With full in-house technology coupled with the extensive skills and knowledge of our technicians, almost any requirement can be produced, from a simple lettering to complex logos and for large batch or fine detail workings of these materials we recommend the ‘Chemical Etching’ process. 

Common applications include switch plates and safety labels, licensee signs, control panels and name plates. Where customers require a little more prestigious, for instance a registered business plate or a commemorative plaque, Mercury Phillips Signs offers engraving on to brass, stainless steel, aluminum and bronze.
